Embracing the Snug
Traditionally a small room off the kitchen or dining room (or a private room at a pub), the snug is a cozy retreat to connect with family or to curl up by the fire with the proverbial good book.
“He is happiest, be he king or peasant, who finds peace in his home.”
—Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
A mix of big box, vintage, and handmade pieces make up this pint-sized room. A concrete column (it’s actually a patio umbrella stand) displays a modern bust statue from CB2. She is wearing a vintage folding ruler acquired on the Portobello Road in 1980s London exemplifying the literal collected look and feel desired.
Other highlights include an Anthropologie table (in window), Pottery Barn settee, Jenni Kayne sheepskin, CB2 rug, Wisteria ottoman.
Central to the atmosphere of this particular snug is the Lopi brand wood stove. It was important to the clients to install an actual wood-burning appliance crafted locally to their Pacific Northwest home.
